About The Position

Under general supervision, perform a wide range of facilities service tasks including non-technical maintenance of plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating, and/or air conditioning equipment, at a level not requiring formal licensure. May be required to perform tasks of other unlicensed trades, such as a light equipment operator, carpenter, painter, and/or locksmith. The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this classification. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties required of personnel so classified.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet one of the following:
  • Six months (6) to one (1) year experience as a Facility Support Technician Apprentice. Must complete Facilities Department Training and Orientation Checklist.
  • Two (2) years previous experience in building and facility maintenance.
  • Driving required.
  • Must be insurable by TriCores insurance carrier.
  • Prove immunity to Hepatitis B or be immunized or sign a waiver refusing hepatitis immunization.
  • Provide documentation of a PPD test conducted not more than 90 days prior to date of hire or have a PPD test conducted.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Basic knowledge of the test equipment used in troubleshooting plumbing/electrical systems.
  • Ability to repair and maintain appliances and heating and cooling equipment.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Skill in the use of computers, familiar with Windows operation systems: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Handle hazardous materials and waste in accordance with safety procedures and regulations. Specific training requirements are documented in TriCores Waste Management Plan, SAF-011.
  • Participate in continuing education programs.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Valid NM Driver's license and must be insurable by lab insurance carrier.

  • Understanding of facilities maintenance practices is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and perform standard repairs to building electrical facilities and systems, such as tubes, fixtures, switches, photocells, and outlets; assist licensed electricians with non-technical repairs as appropriate.
  • Monitor performance of heating, ventilation, and cooling systems for the facility; perform standard repair/replacement of components, as appropriate; and non-technical maintenance tasks such as cleaning of heating and cooling fan coil units and adjustment of system controls.
  • Monitor and perform non-technical maintenance of plumbing systems, to include standard repair of leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed waste lines, installing water coolers, and/or performing non-technical modifications to plumbing and water supply systems; assist licensed plumbers, as appropriate.
  • Perform carpentry maintenance tasks including routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, window replacement, cabinet and countertop replacement, painting and texturing, and door and hardware installation, paint interior and exterior finishes, as appropriate.
  • Assist in maintaining water treatment and storage system.
  • Perform general maintenance, custodial, and trash removal tasks.
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Document facilities maintenance requirements; maintain appropriate records of work performed.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections and preventative maintenance of the facilities and file reports with the Facilities Manager.
  • Perform snow removal as required.
  • Handle hazardous materials and waste in accordance with safety procedures and regulations. Specific training requirements are documented in TriCores Waste Management Plan, SAF 011.
  • Assists with and learns to troubleshoot, repair and maintain laboratory equipment / instruments.
  • Assist with and learns the installation of new equipment or instruments.
  • Learns and performs documentation of equipment repairs, calibrations and maintains appropriate records of work performed.
  • Ensure that the laboratory, office areas and restrooms are clean, trash is empty and paper towel, toilet tissue, and soap dispensers are stocked by the janitorial contractor.
  • Ensure that janitorial supplies are ordered and stocked.
