About The Position

Purpose: To provide support for activities related to maintenance as well as repair and operations of various building systems supporting facilities and corporate fleet. Providing back-up assistance to other departmental staff, including administrative support. To meet and exceed customer expectations and adhere to established quality practices while seeking to continually improve work performance.

Requirements

Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
1-3 years’ experience with auto mechanics, facility maintenance or equivalent is required.
Must have the ability to perform basic maintenance duties, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing and carpentry, and painting.
Must be able to safely operate power hand tools.
Possess excellent customer service skills.
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license, proof of an acceptable driving record and insurance.
Must be able to complete CDL Class B license within 6 months of employment.
Must be organized, have attention to details, work with little direct supervision, able to communicate clearly both verbally and written.
Proficiency using Microsoft Windows, Word, Access, and Excel.
Must be able to understand and follow direct work orders and meet work schedules.
Must be willing to work in all types of outdoor conditions.
Must be able to work in a high stress environment.
Must be available for after-hours special projects and participate in the on-call rotation.
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
Must be able to climb a ladder.
Must be able to lift objects over shoulders and head.
Must be able to stoop/squat and/or get on hands and knees to inspect property and equipment.
Must be able to sit for extended periods.
Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
Must be able to assimilate information and draw reasonable conclusions.
Must have full mobility with the ability to inspect all areas of the facility including but not limited to the roof, equipment rooms, crawl spaces in ceilings, grounds, and under vehicles.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including on-call via personal cell phone. The call schedule requires an immediate response call-back time (within 10 minutes).
Must be able to make sound judgements.

Responsibilities

Assists in performing required maintenance and repairs of plumbing, electrical & HVAC fixtures, components, equipment & systems.
Assists with general carpentry, drywall repair, painting, housekeeping, and power washing.
Perform routine inspections of the facilities at the Lamar campus looking for both janitorial issues and facilities related issues that need to be addressed. As necessary inspect the satellite campuses to ensure the janitorial company is performing up to par.
Performs regular maintenance of property grounds, landscape, and parking areas as necessary.
Performs required maintenance to support housekeeping requirements including floors, walls, and ceilings.
Performs or facilitates preventative maintenance activities for facilities and fleet.
Ensure all facilities & equipment are functioning properly and safely.
Inspects and reports any unsafe surface, property, or structural conditions.
Assists in overseeing on-site vendors and work performed this includes but is not limited to fleet maintenance services, janitorial services, all vending machine services, and other services as needed.
Monitor, address, create, and close issues generated by CMMS.
Be the back-up for administrative support including supply orders, PO’s, licensing, and general office tasks.
Responsible for meeting departmental safety, productivity, and quality goals.
Performs all work in a safe and professional manner.
Communicate with facilities team, leadership, and customers.
