About The Position

The Facilities Specialist is primarily responsible for traveling to multiple Senior Living Facilities, stepping in to oversee preventative maintenance programs, local and state code compliance, physical plant standards, response to emergencies, mitigate risk, and conduct routine facility inspections. This position partners with the VP of Environmental to ensure Facilities are meeting our standards when a community is without a Maintenance Director and/or a community needs additional assistance and guidance to be successful.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in facility maintenance management, preferably in senior living, healthcare, or similar environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems, life safety codes, and state/local regulations.
  • Proven ability to train, lead, and support facility staff.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills:

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in CMMS systems (such as TELS) preferred.
  • Preferred Certifications: HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing license/certification.
  • Life Safety or Fire Safety certification.
  • OSHA or relevant safety training.
  • High School diploma or GED; Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Administrator and Director of Operations to help evaluate and find solutions to routine maintenance needs.
  • Provide information regarding maintenance to the Administrator and/or Director of Operations through weekly/monthly reports.
  • Care for the routine maintenance needs of the Community and its residents as if they were your own home and family.
  • Manage, train and direct all housekeeping and laundry staff.
  • Assist the Administrator with fire and life safety training and drills.
  • Be extremely familiar with life safety and all operational systems in the Community.
  • Respond to resident/Administrator/staff requests for maintenance through maintenance reports and log system.
  • Ensure 24-hour repair/response time for all daily maintenance requests.
  • All minor repairs including: Basic Carpentry - repairing trim, doors, window frames, base, handrails and drywall repair and patch. Painting - resident rooms, doors and frames, handrails, and maintenance painting. Basic Electricity - outlets, switches, covers, lamps and bulb replacement, cord safety and troubleshooting. Basic Plumbing - toilet repair, faucet repair, drain repair and clearing (within 4 feet of trap or flange), shut-off locations in building exterior and monitor grease and lint traps. Basic Locksmith - replacing knobs, installing locksets, re-keying from master, lubrication and ease of use.
  • Coordination - small refurbishment jobs like re-carpeting resident rooms, ensuring that contractors respond in a timely fashion and resident safety while contractors are on-site.
  • Preventative Maintenance - keep preventive maintenance log up to date, ensure that weekly/monthly/quarterly and annual inspections and cleaning occur at specified times and enter new equipment information as it is available.
  • Have a keen sense of detail with regard to patching, painting and repair will be a major part of the maintenance program as well as carpet/floor care and maintenance.
  • Grounds, building exterior and interior, signage are maintained year-round. Beds and lawns will be weeded and trimmed. Season foliage is also part of exterior maintenance plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.
