About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and management for the facilities organization at a specific location, set of buildings, or campus environment. The Remote Facilities Manager (Strong Technical Focus) is charged with the day-to-day implementation of policies, procedures, programs and workplace services delivery that provides a well-managed and well-maintained building and positive client experience. An emphasis of this role is placed on a positive response 24/7 to the concerns and needs of the client, environmental health and safety, and quality programs, in coordination with the client's goals and objectives. This position coordinates the activities, financials, vendors and manpower required for current and future needs of the building and operations with a strong focus on exceptional customer service. Technically focused Facilities Manager role Oversee daily operations of multiple facilities remotely, ensuring functionality, safety, and compliance. Respond positively and promptly to all requests from clients, tenants, occupants, contractors 24/7. Constantly assess client needs and ensure problems are being solved promptly to the mutual benefit of the client, and the properties in accordance with contracted scope. Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs, using CMMS or similar platforms to schedule and track work or by dispatching mobile engineers or vendors for high priority responses Experience working with contractors/vendors and constituents at all levels. Monitor and interpret building system dashboards (BMS, EMS, HVAC controls, access control, CCTV, etc.) to identify anomalies or potential issues. Provide technical oversight of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, and life-safety systems. Analyze data from IoT devices, sensors, and metering systems to optimize building performance and energy efficiency. Support troubleshooting of system alarms, connectivity issues, and remote diagnostics. Coordinate and oversee service providers for maintenance, repairs, and compliance inspections. Review proposals, negotiate contracts, and ensure service-level agreements (SLAs) are met. Maintain detailed records of vendor performance and site visit reports. Lead or support facility upgrades, equipment replacements, and sustainability initiatives. Develop scopes of work, manage budgets, track progress, and coordinate with internal stakeholders. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in compliance with safety standards. Ensure adherence to regulatory standards (OSHA, fire safety, environmental codes, etc.). Maintain facility documentation including permits, inspection schedules, and emergency procedures. Support weekly/monthly remote audits and risk assessments. Collaborate with on-site teams to support space planning, occupancy changes, and workplace experience improvements. Troubleshoot facility-related issues for employees, providing remote guidance or dispatching appropriate vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, corporate real estate, project management, or business administration preferred.
  • 5+ years of facilities management experience, preferably across multiple sites.
  • Experience in leasing, construction, engineering and all facets of property operation and building management preferred
  • Experience with building systems, utility systems, preventive maintenance, repairs and PM preferred.
  • Strong technical background with knowledge of MEP systems, building controls, and related infrastructure.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of programs to drive out cost inefficiencies preferred
  • Experience with BMS, CMMS, work order management, and remote monitoring tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system logs.
  • Excellent organizational and vendor management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data-driven mindset.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to manage stakeholders remotely.
  • Communication Proficiency (oral and written) ability to focus and clearly communicate ideas, issues problems, and solutions to key stakeholders
  • Technical Proficiency, strong technical knowledge & experience in FM, building & construction.
  • Problem Solving/Analysis, investigating, and deeply understanding the root causes of an issue, rather than just treating its symptoms.
  • Leadership, ability to establish priorities, take accountability, act with integrity, and demonstrate initiative in challenging situations.
  • Teamwork Orientation, strong cooperative skills with the ability to also work effectively with teams
  • Relationship Management, build strong connections and break down silos to improve overall organizational effectiveness and deliver better results across all levels
  • Financial Management, create PO’s, prepare annual budgets, report on variances, and plan for special expenditures

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hands-on experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and construction a plus
  • Certifications such as CFM, FMP, LEED GA, or other engineering, business or technical training certifications preferred.
  • Background in electrical or mechanical engineering, building automation, or technical trade experience.
  • Experience with IoT-based building technologies, smart building platforms, or advanced analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with sustainability programs, energy benchmarking, or carbon reporting
  • Proficient in understanding management agreements and contract language
  • Excellent computer and systems knowledge: Strong literacy in Microsoft office suite (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Strong discipline of financial management including financial tracking, budgeting and forecasting knowledge of financial systems (Yardi a plus)
  • Skilled in building management systems maintenance and monitoring (Famis 360 a plus)
