About The Position

The Facilities Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for overseeing all facility-related functions, including equipment maintenance, compliance, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will lead the execution of projects from planning to completion, manage preventive maintenance programs, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards. By collaborating with cross-functional teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders, the Facilities Manager drives operational excellence, supports business growth, and maintains a culture of safety, quality, and accountability. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (Industrial Technology accepted) plus 5 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing plant, including experience with robots and automated equipment, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software or equivalent systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, procedural manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Write clear, accurate reports and correspondence.
  • Perform basic math operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions.
  • Maintain detailed filing systems for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Understand local building codes and electrical distribution systems.
  • Read and create blueprints (electrical, mechanical, plumbing).
  • Familiarity with electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Ability to develop project schedules and budgets.
  • Experience working within tight or limited budget constraints.
  • Adapt quickly to new projects and shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrate strong supervisory and team collaboration skills.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage team dynamics with professionalism and empathy.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, accountability, and ownership.
  • Organized, methodical, and detail-oriented.
  • Willing and able to work alternate shifts as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of experience in a high-volume plastics manufacturing plant, including hands-on experience with injection molding machines up to 2000 tons and associated automation systems.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Execute all phases of facility projects as directed by management to achieve operational objectives.
  • Prepare for and manage new equipment installations, including setup, relocation, electrical work, and startup.
  • Update mechanical and electrical drawings to reflect facility and project changes.
  • Maintain current and archival records for all plant equipment and operating permits.
  • Supervise facility tasks and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and standards.
  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to minimize downtime and reduce operational costs.
  • Maintain plant security and fire protection systems.
  • Proactively identify and complete necessary tasks, supporting team members as needed.
  • Create and manage an annual calendar for facility services, inspections, and testing.
  • Submit weekly written reports summarizing facility activities and progress.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and initiate replacement requisitions as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Consult with vendors on equipment operations and replacement parts.
  • Conduct safety and policy orientation for new employees.
  • Complete and maintain required training documentation for facility roles.
  • Assign personnel or vendors to respond promptly to facility emergency calls.
  • Be available outside regular shift hours for emergencies and security alarm responses.
  • Partner with the environmental compliance engineer to ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Conduct performance reviews and document employee recognition or disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain consistent attendance, punctuality, and dependability to meet departmental and organizational needs.
  • Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, attend safety meetings, and report hazards.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork, openness to feedback, and respectful collaboration.
  • Take ownership of responsibilities, accept accountability, and communicate project status effectively.
  • Adhere to all department quality standards and escalate concerns to the immediate manager.

  • Understand and contribute to departmental KPIs, both individually and as part of a team.
  • Respond to weather-related events and facility disruptions as needed.
  • Act as an Emergency Responder with certification in first-aid, CPR, and AED operation.
