About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician Lead is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operational support of TerraPower facilities, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and legal standards. This position involves both preventive and corrective maintenance of building systems and equipment and supports the management of vendors and contractors. The Facilities Maintenance Technician Lead works closely with the Operations Manager and Director of the department to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable facility operations.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Facilities Maintenance, Building Systems, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and 5+ years of experience in facility maintenance.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience performing maintenance in a commercial, industrial, or institutional environment.
  • Working knowledge of building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and maintenance manuals.
  • Proficiency with maintenance management software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills; able to work collaboratively and professionally.
  • Valid First Aid and AED certification (or willingness to obtain).

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate in HVAC, Building Maintenance Technology, or related discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance activities, set work priorities, and create schedules to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Conduct general maintenance and repairs, including lighting, furniture, carpentry, painting, and minor construction.
  • Replace HVAC filters, unclog drains, and perform minor HVAC repairs.
  • Conduct regular inspections of building interiors and exteriors to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, emergencies, and safety issues.
  • Organization and upkeep of storage spaces.
  • Manage and schedule preventive maintenance contracts (HVAC, elevators, pest control, etc.).
  • Coordinate vendors work schedules, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Assist with the preparation of Requests For Proposals (RFP), and specifications for maintenance-related projects.
  • Oversee contractors and inspect work to ensure quality and safety compliance.
  • Direct, train, and evaluate the performance of maintenance staff, providing instruction, coaching, and support. Support personnel actions like hiring and discipline
  • Maintain facility maintenance records, contracts, and documentation using Jira, Prism, or other maintenance software.
  • Monitors work orders and assign work to appropriate staff to complete work efficiently
  • Prepare inspection and maintenance reports, including recommendations for repairs or improvements.
  • Support office operations by coordinating event/meeting room setup, furniture moves, cleaning, and waste removal.
  • Support Asset and Inventory management during audits and new projects.
  • Participate in budget preparation and provide cost estimates for building maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Identify and report potential hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain certifications and follow all safety procedures during maintenance activities.
  • Operate company vehicle for deliveries or site work (valid driver’s license required).
  • Support other Facilities team members as needed and maintain accurate service and repair records.
