The Facilities & Maintenance Technician l is responsible for a broad range of duties, including indoor and outdoor custodial tasks, maintaining and repairing building systems, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring the overall safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the facility and equipment. This includes hands-on work with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, production and shop equipment, seasonal outdoor upkeep, and support for internal projects. The Technician helps maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using Microsoft Office tools and relevant database systems. This role requires strong communication, dependability, flexibility, and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, or general construction.
  • Knowledge of OSHA or other relevant safety regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license if travel between locations is required.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Facilities Maintenance Perform basic maintenance of building systems including custodial, HVAC, lighting, plumbing, security, fire protection, and facility infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections to repair/report safety hazards or maintenance needs.
  • Complete basic facility-related repairs including plumbing, painting, carpentry, and mechanical work as needed.
  • Assist with office reconfigurations, facility improvement projects, and seasonal building tasks (e.g., snow removal, salting, lawn care).
  • Coordinate with the Facilities Lead on special projects and annual inspections.
  • Conduct required OSHA-related facility inspections (e.g., monthly fire extinguishers, fire alarm, emergency lights, eye-wash station checks).
  • Support internal events with set-up and tear-down as directed.
  • Lock, unlock, and monitor building access points as part of facility security.
  • Manage toilet trailers including pumping schedule and repairs as needed.
  • Perform custodial tasks including: Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and breakrooms. Sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming common areas. Restocking supplies, emptying trash/recycling, and operating cleaning equipment. Maintaining cleanliness in entryways, walkways, and parking lots to ensure an employee and customer-ready environment.
  • Preventative Maintenance & Repair Support routine checks, maintenance and repairs of trucks and other facility equipment.
  • Participate in seasonal equipment-related maintenance tasks (e.g., HVAC servicing, snow equipment prep).
  • Identify repair needs, communicate issues to supervisors, and assist in obtaining quotes or sourcing replacement parts with proper approvals.
  • Handle ordering of consumables (e.g. coffee, facility supplies).
  • Handle Valley Linens activities, including mats, cleaning rags, etc.
  • Handle waste management activities (Pacific Steel/Evergreen waste scheduling)
  • Track and submit information on preferred vendors and critical spare parts to leadership.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools and internal databases to maintain PM records, document activity, and support traceability.
  • Respond promptly to equipment-related work orders and collaborate with other technicians as needed to complete repairs efficiently.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and act as a role model for safe work practices.
  • Team Collaboration & Support Partner with colleagues and departments to complete larger projects and office reconfigurations.
  • Support internal events or team initiatives with set-up and tear-down as needed.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and interact professionally with team members, staff, or tenants.
  • Work with vendors and contractors on larger maintenance tasks under the direction of leadership.
  • Participate in safety initiatives, promote shop safety standards, and act as a role model for safety awareness and implementation.
  • Other Duties Take on additional duties as assigned.
