About The Position

The Maintenance Technician with HVAC experience is responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in industrial and commercial settings. This entry-level role provides hands-on support to experienced technicians while performing routine maintenance, repairs, and system inspections to ensure safe and efficient operations. The ideal candidate has mechanical aptitude, basic HVAC knowledge, and is willing to work in an industrial environment with varied physical demands.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems and components
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to troubleshoot HVAC issues under supervision
  • Capable of working as part of a team and assisting experienced technicians
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools (up to 75 pounds)
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, on rooftops, and in elevated areas
  • Ability to perform extensive physical activities, including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and climbing
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and noise
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card if required by site
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to industrial safety protocols

Responsibilities

  • Assist in installing HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, heating systems, and ventilation systems. Tasks may include assembling and connecting ductwork, piping, and electrical components under supervision
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning filters, checking refrigerant levels, lubricating moving parts, and inspecting systems for proper operation to ensure optimal performance and longevity
  • Assist in diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in HVAC systems, including refrigerant leaks, airflow issues, and electrical problems
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports and maintenance logs, to ensure compliance with company standards and regulations
  • Follow all OSHA, NFPA, and site-specific safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Support experienced HVAC technicians and collaborate with the maintenance team to complete tasks efficiently
