About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the hands-on maintenance and repair of the physical facility, including but not limited to roofing systems, structural repairs, preventative maintenance, and general building upkeep. This role ensures the facility remains safe, functional, and compliant with applicable standards, and plays a critical role in minimizing downtime and protecting company assets.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in facility maintenance or construction trades, with strong working knowledge of commercial roofing systems.
  • Ability to safely use ladders, lifts, and basic hand/power tools.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and at heights in varying weather conditions.
  • Familiarity with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of reading blueprints, repair manuals, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (if travel between locations is required).

Responsibilities

  • Roof Maintenance & Repair
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair roofing systems including leaks, drainage issues, flashing, and damage caused by weather or wear.
  • Coordinate with external contractors when necessary for large-scale or specialty roof repairs.
  • General Building Maintenance
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on structural elements, walls, doors, windows, flooring, dock equipment, and other facility systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify and address safety or maintenance issues proactively.
  • Maintain lighting, HVAC filters, basic plumbing repairs, and emergency response systems.
  • Preventative Maintenance
  • Execute scheduled PMs on building systems and ensure service records are documented.
  • Monitor building condition and assist in developing maintenance schedules based on usage, weather, and wear patterns.
  • Vendor & Contractor Coordination
  • Support the Facilities Manager in scheduling and supervising third-party vendors (e.g., roofing crews, HVAC techs, fire system inspectors).
  • Ensure all work performed complies with company standards and local codes.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Follow and enforce safety protocols; identify hazards and escalate maintenance-related risks immediately.
  • Ensure building systems are compliant with OSHA, fire code, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and materials used.
  • Submit maintenance logs and status updates to Facilities Manager weekly.
