About The Position

Under the general direction of the supervisor, the Facilities Maintenance Tech Sr. performs complex tasks involving daily inspections, preventive maintenance, and the repair of buildings and equipment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Conducting daily inspections and performing installations, general maintenance, and repairs across multiple trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC. Identifying, communicating, coordinating, and completing projects and work assignments within designated area(s). Responding to emergency situations, evaluating issues, and correcting defects as needed. Leading a team of facilities maintenance technicians or serving as the sole maintenance technician for outpatient health care complexes exceeding 110,000 square feet. Mentoring, training, and providing technical expertise to other staff members. Distributing work orders in the supervisor’s absence. Assisting other trades as needed. Adhering to all safety practices and procedures. Cleaning and maintaining work areas and equipment. Attending meetings and completing required documentation accurately and promptly. Providing a high level of customer service and communicating effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors through written, electronic, and verbal methods and devices. Operating a department vehicle. Performing other duties as assigned. This role primarily works first shift; however, shift, hours, days, and/or work location may change based on operational needs, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. Overtime may be required. The position is subject to 24-hour emergency calls.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's licenses
  • Three (3) years of general maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including three years in a team-oriented, multifunction environment.
  • Ability to obtain the following during the probationary period: Valid OSHA 30-hour General Industry Safety and Health card.
  • Demonstrated understanding of university Building Design Standards (BDS) related to building system and equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the project process as managed by FOD Design and Construction (FDC).
  • Successful completion of the probationary period, including demonstrated competence in each of the required technical specialties for this position’s level of responsibility: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC/R.
