About The Position

About the Role Assist with enhancing the physical appearance and experience of the Park District for residents and visitors to our parks and facilities. Duties include inspecting, maintaining and reporting mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems to ensure optimal operating results. Knowledge, Skills & Experience This position is well suited for someone with a friendly and positive personality who is productive and shows initiative, is an effective written and oral communicator, is reliable and safety-minded. Required: A high school degree with some technical training is required. One to three years maintenance experience is required. Have physical strength and ability to lift heavy objects as required and dig manually with hand shovel as needed. Knowledge of computers and other technological devices. A valid Illinois State Driver’s License is required. Maintain current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification and DCFS Mandated Reporter Certification or obtain certification within 30 days of hire. Essential Functions of the Position Park District Cornerstones Follow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of Park District’s safety and risk management program. Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated. Recommends improvements and efficiencies to better accomplish individual and district goals in the best interests of the St. Charles Park District community. Comply with park district policies and administrative procedures. Responsibilities Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Parks and the Assistant Superintendents of Parks, the Facilities Maintenance Associate shall complete their assigned duties to the best of their abilities and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles Park District and of fellow employees. This position requires and ability to: The Facilities Maintenance Associate is a position that helps or assists full time facilities maintenance staff with projects and maintenance items, it includes some inspections as well as daily tasks that would be assigned to them. Assist with facility and equipment inspections and provide general preventative maintenance and repair of all Park District facilities and equipment, such as aquatic facilities, outdoor lighting and timers, drinking fountains, wells, playgrounds and other minor repairs, as needed. Maintain organization in work vehicle, shop and inventoried supplies. Assist with general maintenance such as painting, cleaning, use of hand tools, and special projects, as assigned. Organize and oversee multiple tasks and duties as required. Work varied hours including evenings and weekends, as required. Operate motor equipment as needed or required. Marginal Functions of the Position Assist with special events. Perform other related duties as assigned.
