About The Position

Seasonal Maintenance Worker to work fulltime for six months starting March 1st in the Facilities division of the City of Port Townsend Community Services Department. $24.52/hour, 40 hours per week, eligible for overtime No medical benefits but accrues 1 hour of sick time per 40 hours worked & able to access City's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Working hours: must be able to work weekends and weekdays as assigned JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision, performs custodial maintenance duties and general cleanliness procedures for public buildings.

  • Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire.
  • Valid Washington driver's license and ability to maintain a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier.
  • Must pass criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with basic janitorial equipment and hand tools.
  • Experience using a maintenance management software program.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
  • Current Bloodborne Pathogens Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Custodial duties include but not limited to dusting, mopping, trash removal, sanitizing, cleaning of windows, buffing of floors, vacuuming, shampooing carpets, litter pickup, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
  • Performs maintenance and repair activities to City facilities including painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and concrete work.
  • Safely operates portable equipment and small hand and power tools necessary to maintain City properties.
  • Performs routine maintenance tasks to custodial equipment and supplies.
  • Cleans and maintains public restrooms, picnic shelters, picnic tables, garbage cans and other facilities.
  • Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
  • Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas
  • Tracks work activities in online work order system
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Crew Chief or Facilities & Parks Manager.
