About The Position

Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, the Facilities Generalist II performs skilled, timely maintenance and repairs at all Douglas County Libraries (DCL) locations. This role is responsible for scheduling, tracking, and executing routine and preventative maintenance across facilities, equipment, and grounds. With strong initiative and problem-solving skills, this position ensures functional, safe, and well-maintained spaces that enhance the customer and employee experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License, good driving record
  • Two years general maintenance experience
  • Basic skills in Microsoft 365 or other productivity, collaboration, and cloud-based services software. Ability to learn and apply new technologies.
  • Must have a reliable method of transportation between all DCL locations.
  • Vision is 20/40 or better in either eye with or without corrective lenses, and total combined horizontal field of vision, with both eyes, of at least 120 degrees.
  • Must have the physical ability, stamina, mobility and manual dexterity to support a 7-day a week operation.?
  • Handle materials and chemicals safely.
  • Push/pull loads with a force of up to 50 pounds, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, work in confined space and at heights up to 30 feet.?
  • Must have the ability to safely use manual tools and power tools common in construction trades.

Responsibilities

  • Performs skilled facility maintenance including HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical systems with working knowledge of applicable codes.
  • Diagnoses issues, executes repairs, and leaves workspaces clean and improved; maintains service and preventative maintenance records.
  • Leads repairs on automated material handling equipment and mentors Facilities Generalists.
  • Safely operates tools and equipment, applies lock-out/tag-out procedures, and uses PPE per safety standards.
  • Self-directs work, collaborates across locations, and provides on-call support while maintaining a positive and professional presence.
  • Executes indoor/outdoor physical tasks in various weather conditions, including landscape and sprinkler repair, snow removal, and moving furniture or seasonal items.
  • Builds and installs fixtures, cabinets, and other furnishings to support branch operations and special projects.
  • Transports equipment and supplies between locations.
  • Practices safe work habits aligned with construction and facilities standards.
  • Maintains well-organized supply and equipment inventories, reporting restocking needs.
  • Builds collaborative relationships across departments and contributes to a professional, team-oriented environment.
  • Develops proficiency in relevant industry and organizational technology.
  • Engages in DCL’s performance feedback process and meets departmental expectations, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
