About The Position

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Performs routine electrical and mechanical tests on equipment for operation, safety and efficiency. • Performs routine inspections of circuits and wiring for proper installation, rewiring and repairs. • Troubleshoots major electrical, mechanical, cooling and emergency systems according to established preventive, predictive, emergency and disaster recovery schedules/plans. • Performs necessary testing of equipment to ensure maximum reliability and optimum performance. • Ensures customer requests for assistance have been responded to and resolved by shift engineers according to established Facilities Services Engineering standards. • Records operational and maintenance actions taken in daily log and equipment log books. • Adjusts equipment settings to keep environment equipment operating within prescribed tolerances and ranges either manually or through automated systems. • Switches to alternative equipment or shuts equipment down in safety hazard situations. • Working from diagrams, sketches, operations manuals and manufacturer specifications, installs or repairs machinery and mechanical equipment including engines, motors, pneumatic HVC controls and other equipment/machinery. • Oversees work from external service providers and ensures appropriate documentation on actions taken and other record keeping documentation are received and logged. • Assists as directed in any remodeling or equipment installation projects. • Prepares technical manuals, reports and procedures. • Participates in customer meetings as necessary. • While performing job duties, may be exposed to dust and high noise levels, is frequently required to stand, bend, and kneel and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. • Other related duties assigned as needed. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in engineering or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES • Must possess a valid state Driver’s License • Communicates ideas both verbally and in written form in a clear, concise and professional manner appropriate to audience including executive levels • Ability to react quickly and appropriately to operational exceptions such as equipment failures • In-depth knowledge of computerized control systems for mechanical, electrical, HVAC and other equipment • Good understanding of applicable local and national building, plumbing and electrical codes and safety regulations • Must be familiar with and adhere to OSHA safety standards • Ability to apply engineering knowledge to the reduction of operational and maintenance costs • Demonstrated ability to read and work from diagrams, sketches, operations manuals and manufacturer’s specifications • Ability to understand and apply concepts • Ability to analyze and solve problems using learned techniques and tools • Skilled use of Microsoft Office package and related software applications is required • Team skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships FIS JOB LEVEL DESCRIPTION Entry level role requiring basic skills with a moderate level of proficiency. Performs discrete tasks working under close to moderate supervision with limited latitude for independent judgment and the ability to overcome minor obstacles while communicating problem areas to others. Consults with senior peers with goal of continually building knowledge/experience while minimizing any risk. This role is focused on learning to apply standards, developing an understanding of the business, and advancing personal professional growth through certifications and tailored goal setting. Typically requires one of the following: Associate’s degree in Engineering and a minimum of two years related experience; certification from a technical trade school and a minimum of one year related experience; or three years on the job related experience.
