About The Position

At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service. Overview The Staff Project Manager, Facilities Development leads complex capital projects from concept through commissioning across Joby’s multi-site portfolio, including R&D, manufacturing, flight test, office, and support facilities. Operating as a senior individual contributor, this role applies deep technical and financial expertise to independently deliver high-value projects while influencing cross-functional and senior stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Experience managing complex facilities or construction projects
  • Demonstrated experience independently leading large, multi-disciplinary capital projects
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (MEP, structural, civil)
  • Advanced budgeting, forecasting, and cost control skills
  • Ability to influence without authority and communicate effectively with senior leaders
  • Proficiency with tools such as Smartsheet, MS Project, Procore, or Bluebeam

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with industrial, manufacturing, aviation, or airport facilities
  • Professional certifications (PMP, CCM, PE, LEED AP, or similar)
  • Familiarity with FAA processes and environmental reviews (CEQA/NEPA)
  • Experience supporting fast-growing or highly regulated environments

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of complex capital projects, typically $1M–$50M, with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and quality
  • Drive feasibility, programming, design, permitting, construction, commissioning, and turnover activities
  • Apply expert judgment to resolve complex technical, financial, and schedule challenges with minimal direction
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, change control, and executive-level reporting
  • Lead selection and management of architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants
  • Partner with Workplace, Facilities Maintenance, IT, Security, EHS, and other teams to ensure operational readiness
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, FAA/airport requirements (when applicable), environmental regulations, and internal standards
