About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Fabrication Specialist (Level C) to join our dynamic team in Kennedy Space Center, FL. This position will support production with an emphasis on electrical or mechanical for SLS Core Stage Integration at NASA’s Space System Processing Facility located in Kennedy Space Center, FL. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience with spacecraft manufacturing, assembly, modification, and repair, with vast knowledge of repair, maintenance, and retrofit processes and procedures
  • Experience working with Human Spaceflight hardware
  • Experience reading, understanding, and interpreting basic engineering drawings and specifications
  • Basic computer experience and competency
  • This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.
  • This is a NASA safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
  • This position requires travel up to 25% of the time
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim U.S. Confidential Pre-Start and final U.S. Confidential clearance Post-Start is required.

Responsibilities

  • Disassembles systems components to support the correction of failures or implement changes.
  • Performs routine troubleshooting of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components.
  • Performs validation/verification testing of systems and components.
  • Inspects component before installation or usage to verify cleanliness and serviceability of components.
  • Fabricates and modifies aerospace products according to specifications.
  • Performs tasks associated with the safe handling of an aerospace vehicle (e.g. jacking, towing, system operations).
