This occupation performs the inspection of metal, composite or plastic fabricated parts and assemblies for conformance to specifications.

Requirements

  • 3 years mechanical inspection experience
  • 3 years of experience utilizing Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to use standard inspection equipment including but not limited; to Vernier gages, Thread and Plug Gages, Micrometers, Calipers, Indicators, & Optical Comparators
  • Experience completing first article inspections
  • The ability to obtain and maintain an Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF) clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Use of Standard Inspection Equipment (Calipers, Micrometers, etc.), Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Optical Comparators/Smart Scopes, and other verification methods to ensure machined parts conform to technical data packages (TDP) and/or customer quality requirements.
  • Perform final inspection activities to verify parts meet technical data package requirements using visual, mechanical, and other inspection techniques.
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) to support Engineering and/or production.
  • Verifies conformance to required tolerances and specifications.
  • Assist quality assurance, engineering, and operations in the investigation of non-conformities.
  • Performs area surveillance of equipment, tools, and safety precautions.
  • Verifies calibration and conformance to specifications and established technical data, quality requirements, and standards.
  • Works from blueprints, operation instruction sheets, work orders, stock orders, quality control standards, military specifications, and written instructions.
  • Manages the calibration cycle and checks out/in all mechanical gages in the lab.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and protection of precision gages.
