About The Position

Our work depends on a Principal Communications Specialist joining the F-35 Lightning II Joint Program Office (JPO) public affairs office in refining communications to internal and external audiences in Arlington, VA. The Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) F-35 IT program support contract provides knowledge-based, information assurance and cybersecurity IT services to the F-35 Lightning II Joint Program Office (JPO). Our services include digital media and strategic communication support, program management, enterprise performance management, enterprise architecture, implementation of emerging capabilities and requirements, life cycle management, operations & maintenance, enterprise data management, service desk support and IT training. MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Principal Communications Specialist, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our Digital Media team on the F-35 Lightning II Program in Arlington, VA: Develop print and digital content for internal and external audiences. Prepare, edit, revise presentations, talking points, news articles and other documents. Execute quick-turn communications tasks or initiatives for senior leaders. Plan, write and edit content on deadline and to a high standard of quality. Manage and execute multiple assignments simultaneously. Develop and execute communications plans designed for specific initiatives. Adhere to standards and quality-assurance resources such as style guides. Develop/update content for F-35 JPO external website. Develop/update content for F-35 JPO intranet. Assist and work within oversight of Public Affairs Office. Our Principal Communications Specialist must have: Security Clearance Level: Active Secret clearance Required Experience: 8 years Experience in public affairs, strategic communications, and media relations in a DoD environment creating communication materials for military and civilian audiences, including senior leaders. Create visually compelling graphics for digital and print media, including Intranet post, newsletter, and presentations using the Adobe Creative Suite. Edit and retouch photos and images to meet campaign requirements Extensive experience writing and editing on deadline for publication. Experience conceiving and developing content for print and digital platforms. Competency in use of standard office tools (e.g., MS Office suite, SharePoint, etc.). Competency in use of standard digital media tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite) Strong attention-to-detail mindset Ability to work independently, exhibiting accountability and ownership for assignments and work products. Ability to complete work products to a high standard of quality. Demonstrates initiative and eagerness to volunteer for assignments. Education: BS/BA Degree in Journalism, Communications or related discipline Work Location: Hybrid - Onsite in Arlington VA 2 days a week / 3 days Remote. The likely salary range for this position is $107,744 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
