About The Position

The MN Extruder Operator plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by operating and maintaining extrusion equipment to produce high-quality plastic products. This position requires careful monitoring of equipment to ensure consistent output that meets precise specifications and quality standards. The operator will be responsible for setting up machines, adjusting parameters, and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency. Collaboration with quality control and maintenance teams is essential to address any defects or mechanical problems promptly. Ultimately, the role ensures that production goals are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory and company standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating extrusion or similar manufacturing equipment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret production orders, blueprints, and technical documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use precise instruments, such as calipers and optical comparators.
  • Ability to operate various hand tools, machines, and warehouse equipment.
  • Highly organized and able to effectively manage time.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 to 3 years plastic processing experience operating extruders
  • 1 to 3 years plastic processing experience operating fabrication equipment
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and production tracking.
  • Associate's degree in a technical field

Responsibilities

  • Determines necessary equipment for each product; sets up extruder and runs parts to established specifications and efficiency standards, making adjustments to operating conditions as necessary.
  • Fills hopper with specified material as needed; operates grinder, punches, sandblaster, cooker, and other tools as required.
  • Conducts product quality checks as necessary, completes paperwork in accordance with established procedures, packs products as necessary.
  • Inspects, cleans, organizes, and maintains dies, calibrators, tooling, etc.
  • Maintain accurate production records and report any deviations or incidents to supervisors.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure products meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Trains operators as directed by the supervisor.
