About The Position

The A+ project is seeking Extra Help to create visual aids to support coaches for the A+ grant in meeting grant deliverables. Create visual supports such as schedules, task cards, charts, behavior/communication visuals, and classroom organizational support. Collaborate with grant staff to develop visual supports aligned with the identified needs of classrooms Modify and adapt visual supports to meet individual student needs Maintain an organized inventory of visual supports by laminating, cutting, and preparing items as needed. Gather visuals and prepare conference materials for exhibiting Perform other related duties as assigned by supervising staff. The Autism Professional Learning and Universal Supports (A+) project at Illinois State University plays a vital role in addressing the significant behavior needs of children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related behavior and communication disorders, in collaboration with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). As the number of children and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder continues to increase, so does the need for specially trained staff. To ensure their success in the educational setting, learners with ASD require specific strategies and supports. Equally important, school teams supporting these students must possess the knowledge and skills to provide effective interventions. Professional learning is an integral component of the technical assistance A+ provides to educators across Illinois. Requirements

  • Advanced technology skills to create visual supports (e.g., Adobe, Canva, Boardmaker, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with grant staff.
  • Patience, flexibility, and communication skills
