This position is responsible for Triple P family in-home education sessions in Fort Smith and Fayetteville. This position has regular contact with DCFS, other public agencies, and community professionals. The Trainer is directly responsible to the Parenting Program Director. This position requires extensive in-state travel and work outside regular office hours. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Requirements

  • Degree in Social Work with LSW, LMSW, or LCSW licensure OR Master’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education, or related Human/Social Science field, OR Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education, Social Work or related Human/Social Science field with experience working with children or families.
  • The successful candidate will be trained and certified in Triple-P.
  • Experience with children or families is required.
  • Excellent skills in facilitating groups from diverse backgrounds
  • Skills in conducting home visits
  • Ability to use assessment tools and collect data
  • Ability to travel in-state
  • Knowledge of teaching principles and methods
  • Ability to coordinate and conduct training programs
  • Ability to prepare reports and maintain records
  • Ability to work outside of regular office hours is required
  • Ability to adapt to organizational change and handle multiple tasks
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in writing home assessments, psycho-social histories, in-home visiting, direct DCFS experience, or trainer/instructor experience is preferred
  • Appropriate professional licensure preferred, e.g., LMSW, LPC.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate parent education sessions for identified parents
  • Communicate with program participants by (phone, email, mail, virtual setting, etc.) as needed
  • Work with the education team to consider the individual needs of families in the program and implement programming accordingly (ex., needed accommodations such as translators, interpreters, etc.)
  • Work with children in the family system as required by the DCFS parenting program
  • Assist in program documentation, evaluation, and reporting requirements.
