The Parenting Program Practitioner is responsible for the implementation of the contracted parenting program in partnership with the Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) program models. The Parenting Program Educator will be responsible for working with a training team that will consider the individual needs of families referred by DCFS. This position is directly responsible to the Parenting Program Regional Lead. State and federal laws and agency/institution policy govern this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working with children and/or families
  • Experience with facilitating classes or groups
  • Work outside of regular business hours is required
  • Excellent facilitative skills across diverse backgrounds and settings
  • Excellent skills in direct-service work with parents, children, and teens
  • Skills and high comfort level in conducting in-home services
  • Ability to use assessment tools and collect data
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours and travel in-state with some overnight stays
  • Knowledge of training program development and effective presentation techniques
  • Knowledge of effective teaching principles and methods
  • Ability to research, develop, evaluate, and adapt training programs to meet the individual needs of families
  • Ability to coordinate and conduct training programs
  • Ability to prepare reports, maintain records, and ensure documentation is in compliance with program deliverables
  • Ability to present ideas and information to diverse groups
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office and the ability to operate AV equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree with licensure in the field of study when appropriate
  • Two or more years of direct experience leading groups of parents and/or children across diverse populations and settings

Responsibilities

  • Complete training and become accredited in the contracted parenting program models
  • Facilitate contracted parenting program curriculum in-person and via virtual platforms, (as required)
  • Engage parents in active skills training, role plays, and practice sessions
  • Present as proactive and use open communication with program participants and DCFS staff (phone, email, in-person) between sessions and additionally, (as needed)
  • Work with the education team to evaluate the specific needs of families referred to the program and tailor programming accordingly
  • Assist in the referral process from DCFS
  • Receive weekly supervision and problem-solves issues that may arise
  • Complete program documentation, evaluation, and reporting requirements in compliance to program deliverables
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned
