The Extra Help Assistant is responsible for providing unskilled, semi-skilled labor or performing basic office tasks in a state agency or institution. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Requirements

• High school diploma or the formal education equivalent
• Currently enrolled as a UA Little Rock student
• Must be a sophomore with 30 or more hours
• Strong time management and communication skills
• Display a fitting, cooperative, and approachable attitude and demeanor
• Communicate by effectively writing, listening, and speaking
• Ability to work with a diverse student, faculty, and staff population
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Demonstrate flexibility in your approach to mentoring

Responsibilities

• Serve as a peer mentor and assist students with navigating college life
• Attend all mandatory training and meetings throughout the term
• Facilitate discussions with student mentees twice a month
• Become familiar with various resources on campus
• Inform supervisor of any student concerns
• Create and participate in opportunities to support student mentees
• Regularly attend Trojan Leadership Fellows Program events
• Perform other duties as assigned
