The Learning Assistants are students who are responsible for assisting course instructors with the design, implementation, dissemination, and revision of evidence-based teaching practices in their courses. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Nice To Haves

  • They must have successfully completed qualifying STEM courses for which they are applying to be Learning Assistants, unless otherwise approved by the course instructor.

Responsibilities

  • Assist course instructors in designing evidence-based teaching practices for the course instructors’ classes
  • Assist course instructors in implementing evidence-based teaching practices in the course instructor’s class (either in class, workshop, or lab)
  • Meet with the course instructor at least once a week to provide feedback and plan for the next week’s tasks
  • Guide students in the course instructor’s class as they learn course material.
