About The Position

We’re expanding into the Portland Metro area and looking for an experienced External Mortgage Loan Officer (EMLO) to help us grow. As an EMLO, you’ll be the face of the Credit Union in the Beaverton / Hillsboro / Portland Metro market. Your mission: attract and cultivate new mortgage loan originations by building strong relationships with Realtors, builders, and community partners. If you’re a go-getter with deep ties to the real estate community and a passion for helping people achieve homeownership, this is your chance to shine. This position is considered a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) as defined by the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (SAFE Act). The law requires MLO to be registered in the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLSR).

Requirements

  • Business Development: Proven experience and track record in identifying, developing and maintaining prospective business relationships to establish recurring sources of referrals and ensure a quality pipeline of mortgage originations. Strong ability to identify and analyze potential loan markets and stay current on industry trends.
  • Lending Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of real estate lending, including lending programs, policies, secondary market and regulatory compliance requirements. Proven ability to conduct interviews with prospective borrowers, perform credit and financial analysis and oversee the application process, ensuring a high level of accuracy and that member needs are met.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to educate members on the process and available products and services, all while ensuring exceptional member services throughout. Showcases strong diplomacy and ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Experience & Education: At least three years of real estate lending and loan origination experience required.
  • Three years of experience in field sales where lead generation is the prime source of business is highly preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • Secondary market investor underwriting and guideline experience preferred.
