About The Position

The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) is committed to making sure that Florida's consumers receive some of their most essential services — electric, natural gas, telephone, water, and wastewater — in a safe, reasonable, and reliable manner. In doing so, the FPSC exercises regulatory authority over utilities in one or more of three key areas: rate base/economic regulation; competitive market oversight; and monitoring of safety, reliability, and service. The Office of External Affairs serves as the Commission’s front line for external engagement, building strategic relationships with stakeholders across government and industry. With a combined focus on legislative affairs and communications, the Office maintains a strong presence throughout the legislative process to support lawmakers in shaping Florida’s energy and utility regulatory policy, while also leading the agency’s messaging and outreach efforts. The External Affairs Coordinator is responsible for responding to media requests, scheduling and attending FPSC Customer Service Hearings and Customer Meetings, which includes coordinating meeting dates, site locations, audio and web stream access, security, translators, and parking; Completing FPSC reports, including Annual Report, Comparative Rate Statistics, and Facts and Figures on an annual basis; Completing and distributing FPSC news clips on a daily basis; Overseeing production, organization and distribution of FPSC brochures and publications, which includes printing brochures, fulfilling brochure request orders and mailing orders to recipients; Preparing and distributing Rate Case Overviews and Government Bulletins for customer service hearings and customer meetings.

Requirements

  • Four years of relevant work experience in the area of event planning, media relations, and public speaking is required
  • An associate degree and two years of relevant work experience OR a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university may be used as an alternative for the years of required experience
