This position is an Extension Support Specialist I within the Soil & Crop Sciences section of the School of Integrative Plant Science (SIPS) in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Cornell University. The role involves maintaining and modifying Agricultural (Ag) Districts boundary data for public distribution on behalf of the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets (NYS AGM). The GIS Extension Support Specialist will use data provided by county agencies participating in the Ag Districts program to create and update Ag District boundaries in a variety of file formats for publication through the Cornell Library CUGIR website, as well as the NYS AGM and NYS GIS Clearinghouse website links. The specialist will also develop and maintain database and reporting systems, serve as a resource for reporting for stakeholders, develop and tailor standard teaching aids and materials, and coordinate and assist in developing outreach and marketing efforts such as press releases, social media, and website content. Additionally, the role acts as a liaison with Ag & Markets to enhance understanding and support of programs/projects. This is a part-time, 36-hour per week position, that is fully in-person, and located in Ithaca, NY. It is a one-year term appointment contingent upon available work, funding, and performance.
