About The Position

Make a positive impact by supporting programs that strengthen both youth and families. This internship focuses on youth development and home and community education, offering hands-on experience in areas such as leadership development, and mental health. Interns will help deliver programs, develop educational materials, and engage with participants. Our team fosters a welcoming and encouraging environment where interns are supported in learning and trying new things. You’ll gain experience working with opportunities to collaborate, lead activities, and build professional skills. Flexible scheduling may be available depending on program needs. This is an ideal opportunity for students interested in Extension, community education, community health, or family and consumer sciences. This position is hybrid work eligible within the state of Utah, with in-person responsibilities around Utah.

Requirements

  • Be an undergraduate student
  • Have an interest in the Extension program
  • Be dependable
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to and from work site

Responsibilities

  • Attending overnight youth camps for the USU Extension's Skyward Program in various dark sky locations around Utah. Some locations include East Canyon, Goblin Valley State Park, Snow Canyon State Park, Kodachrome Basin State Park.
  • Facilitate activities (astronomy, reflection, Leave No Trace)
  • Assisting with participant registration, communication with parents, and follow-up emails
  • Helping maintain and update the Skyward webpage and social media content
  • Supporting data entry and organization from pre/post surveys and participant reflections to prepare materials for future grant reports, presentations, and publications
