About The Position

Support programs that strengthen agriculture, horticulture, natural resources, and forestry across Utah. This internship provides hands-on experience assisting with research-based education and outreach, connecting university knowledge with real-world applications for producers, land managers, and communities. Interns will gain exposure to fieldwork, program delivery, and problem-solving in diverse agricultural and natural resource settings. You’ll join a team that values practical learning, stewardship, and strong community relationships. Work environments may include farms, gardens, natural areas, and community events, offering a dynamic and engaging experience. Flexible scheduling may be available depending on seasonal program needs. Requirements

  • Be enrolled in a college or university or enrolled in concurrent enrollment
  • Have an interest in the Extension program
  • Be dependable
  • Be interested in Agriculture, horticulture, and/or natural resources

Responsibilities

  • Research & Evaluation Assist the county agent in collecting and recording data for several different studies; wool mulch persistence, fruit tree pest emergence, grape pest emergence, blue alfalfa aphid collection, beet leaf hopper collection, rangeland plant mineral composition, fruit tree DNA collection, among others
  • Travel required to collect data from farms and rangelands. Milage will be reimbursed for personal vehicle usage.
  • Program & Event Support Assist with High School and Professional Range Camps
  • Community Outreach & Partnerships Participate in site visits with gardeners and farmers
  • Education & Content Development Disseminate research findings through fact sheets or other materials
