ABOUT TEMPLE DE HIRSCH SINAI Temple De Hirsch Sinai is the oldest and largest Jewish Reform temple in the Pacific Northwest. We provide worship, education, life cycle events, and service to more than 1300 families, individuals, and the broader community across two campuses. Our historic and progressive congregation plays a prominent role in both civic and interfaith religious life in the greater Seattle area. OVERVIEW The Tiyulim Coordinator leads our 7th Grade Field Trip Program, focusing on planning and executing local educational trips, fostering community among students, and ensuring smooth logistical operations. We are looking for an experienced educator who has demonstrated ability to understand how to build community with middle school students, has a background in Judaism and strong organizational/communication skills. The coordinator will work closely with the Director of Education and other staff members to create a meaningful and engaging program for students.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3-5 years minimum informal education/experiential education experience such as camps or trips.
  • Demonstrated experience working with middle school students.
  • Jewish background and basic knowledge of Judaism.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with parents, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Program Planning and Execution: Create a schedule for 8-9 local trips including the pre-trip education sessions. Can be done remotely during the week.
  • Plan and lead educational trips and pre-trip education sessions between the hours of 8:30-1pm on Sunday mornings.
  • Research, schedule, confirm, and coordinate with speakers and other guests.
  • Organize food for each program.
  • Submit setups for onsite programs weekly.
  • Provide lesson planning and activity planning support for Tiyulim Teachers.
  • Develop a well thought out approach to creating community within the class and implement weekly community-building activities.
  • Create video/photo documentation for families and funders.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Meet with the Director of Education to review program details.
  • Work with the Rabbi/Educator for each trip to plan and review trip details.
  • Address student needs, behavior issues, and concerns.
  • Send weekly email updates to parents.
  • Collect participant feedback and conduct evaluations at the end of the year.
  • Logistics and Administration: Manage trip signups and organization.
  • Reserve locations for trips.
  • Manage transportation logistics.
  • Order supplies for programs.
