About The Position

We're looking for someone who's organized, adaptable, and enjoys working with young people. One day you might be coordinating parent communication or managing trip logistics and paperwork; the next, you could be facilitating a challenge course session or helping connect our students with classrooms around the world. Picture being there when a student reaches the top of their first rock climb or seeing the wonder in their eyes as they step off a plane in a foreign country for a global exchange. This role supports our Experiential Education team, which includes our Trojan Outdoor Experience (TOE) and Global Education programs, working alongside a team of four colleagues who care deeply about helping students grow through hands-on, meaningful experiences. The right candidate for this role is someone who feels just as comfortable managing systems as they do sleeping in a tent; someone who can pivot quickly when plans change, who approaches everything with a safety-first mindset, and who truly enjoys building relationships with students from Pre-K through 12th grade. You don't need to arrive as an outdoor expert, but you should be excited to learn and comfortable spending time outside.

Requirements

• You're a self-starter who notices what needs to be done and takes care of it without waiting to be asked.
• Time management comes naturally to you, and you're systems-oriented-you like creating order and maintaining the behind-the-scenes infrastructure that helps programs succeed.
• You communicate effectively and patiently, whether you're reassuring a parent sending their child on their first camping trip, collaborating with a colleague, or encouraging a hesitant student.
• You're adaptable and can shift gears at a moment's notice, which is essential both in the office and especially on trips where weather, group dynamics, or logistics might require quick thinking.
• Safety is always on your mind-you naturally think through potential risks and how to mitigate them.
• You're creative and bring fresh ideas to the table, particularly when it comes to experiential learning opportunities.
• You're also comfortable in the outdoors. You don't need extensive experience, but camping, hiking, and physical activities are something you enjoy.
• You can handle the physical demands of this role. You will carry gear, navigate trails, sleep in tents, and stay active throughout long days with students.
• You're excited about being trained in experiential education because you genuinely want to be out there creating meaningful experiences for young people.
• A bachelor's degree and some relevant training or experience that's prepared you for this kind of work. That might be outdoor education, student affairs, program coordination, youth development, or another path that's given you skills in organization, communication, and working with young people.
• You should be comfortable with technology and online systems, able to travel for multi-day trips during the school week throughout the year, and ready to work with students across all ages-from our youngest Pre-K learners to seniors preparing for college.

Responsibilities

• Manage forms for TOE and Global Education trips-collecting permissions, medical information, and other essential documentation.
• Help send out communications regarding missing documentation and can assist in answering parent questions.
• Become ACCT Level 1 certified to facilitate our challenge course, creating safe spaces where students push their boundaries and discover new strengths.
• Join several multi-day trips during the school week. This could be anything from an overnight trip with the younger kids to a week long adventure with the 8th graders in Washington D.C. and West Virginia. On these trips you'll help with everything from setting up camp to supporting kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, and other outdoor activities.
• Play a vital role in our Global Education program. Sometimes you'll lead tours for virtual guests or set up the Zoom connection to connect students to another country. Other times, you may occasionally step in to cover a class when the Global Education teacher needs to connect with a visiting guest or make sure that penpal letters get stamped before heading off to another country.
• Be part of a team that collaborates with teachers to dream up new ways to bring learning to life-helping us expand and deepen what makes our experiential education program distinctive.
