About The Position

The Lexington Public Library (LPL) is a dynamic organization that strives to educate, entertain, and connect all people who live, work, or play in the greater Lexington area. To keep LPL progressing forward, the Experiential Learning Associate I assists with the day-to-day responsibilities of the experiential learning spaces. This includes implementing and facilitating hands-on programming for community makers of all ages. If you have excellent customer service skills, are tech-savvy, enjoy problem-solving, and love learning new things and sharing your knowledge with others in a fast-paced environment, you’d be a great fit for this position!

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least one year related experience required.
  • Excellent digital literacy skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working effectively with a culturally diverse workforce and community.
  • Must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, with a safe driving record and the ability to have/arrange own transportation.

  • Associate's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the day-to-day responsibilities of the experiential learning spaces.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment in our experiential learning spaces.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by instructing and assisting customers with software and equipment.
  • Organize and oversee the use of supplies, tools and materials used in experiential learning spaces.
  • Implement and facilitate hands-on programming for makers of all ages.
  • Collaborate with supervisor to enhance programs.
  • Maintain interdepartmental relationships and seek new ways for these spaces to serve as a resource to other library departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
