About The Position

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an Experienced Design and Analysis Engineer- Fighters Mission Systems located in Berkeley, MO. The Fighter Mission Systems Navigation, Data Link, and Displays Hardware Team works with suppliers, programs, and customers to develop, qualify, test, and deliver hardware (including its software & firmware) in support of the Boeing Fighters platforms. The team also provides expert technical assistance to government customers on the integration of government developed and/or purchased (GFE) navigation and data link systems onto both the F-15 and F/A-18 aircraft. The high performing and fast paced Navigation, Data Link, and Displays team is currently engaged in a number of exciting and high-profile development projects for both the F-15 platform (both USAF and foreign customers) as well as the F/A-18. These efforts are key to many of our customers achieving their operational goals. The role involves leading the engineering design, development, and analysis of assigned commodities for seamless integration into higher level systems and platforms. It also includes consultation in the design, development, integration, test, and operational capability of various USAF, USN, and international programs, as well as the development, validation, and verification of requirements. The engineer will oversee critical tests, monitor supplier performance, provide technical leadership, support products throughout their lifecycle, and mentor less senior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 9+ years of work-related experience plus a Bachelors degree OR an equivalent combination of technical education and experience with a Masters degree or PhD
  • Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment.
  • An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
  • Meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, requiring a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 (U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).

  • Prior experience working in an Avionics/Mission Systems discipline

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering design, development, and analysis of commodities assigned to ensure seamless integration into higher level systems and platforms.
  • Consult in the design, development, integration, test, and operational capability of various USAF, USN, and international programs.
  • Develop, validate, and verify requirements.
  • Oversee the definition and execution of critical tests of various kinds to validate performance of designs to requirements.
  • Assist in monitoring supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements baseline.
  • Provide technical leadership for critical aspects of supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements.
  • Support the products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use.
  • Mentor less senior/experienced team members.
  • Lead work with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
  • Lead work to test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
  • Oversee the team that monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
  • Solve problems concerning and provide other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
  • Research technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
  • Make recommendations for technology investments.
