About The Position

Next is looking for a full-time Expeditor to join our team! The Expeditor is an important part of the team, ensuring all plates and courses are prepared and presented accurately. This is a full-time position, paid hourly, and candidates must be willing to work 40+ hours, 5 days a week. Candidates must be available to work Wednesday - Sunday. Next is a pre-fixe experience that undergoes a creative overhaul every four months, each time inviting guests to explore a new culinary region, theme or moment in time. For example, Winter 2019’s Silk & Spice menu featured dishes that explored the spices and flavors along the historic trade route in Asia, Northeast Africa and Europe. Next was named the Best New Restaurant in the U.S. by the James Beard Foundation in 2012 and awarded a Michelin Star. Past menus have included Ancient Rome (2017), The Hunt (2012), and Alinea Retrospective (2018).

Requirements

  • Possess at least 1 year of experience as an expeditor, server, or related role
  • Ability to excel in a high-pressure, chef-driven environment.
  • Maintain a keen eye for detail in every aspect of your role.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with the team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
  • Think clearly, act quickly, and maintain concentration during intense situations.
  • Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours
  • Must be able to move, pull or lift at least 35 pounds
  • Must be able to climb stairs multiple times per shift

Responsibilities

  • Organize the Expeditor station for nightly service, ensuring all necessary equipment is in place for efficient operation.
  • Communicates all information to kitchen team including standard order information, dietary restrictions, Persons of Note (PON), and any special guest requests
  • Assist in training servers, particularly in food running, dish description, and ingredient information.
  • Maintain direct communication with the kitchen team to ensure an ample supply of clean plateware and serviceware.
  • Verify the quality, quantity, and presentation of each dish leaving the kitchen.
  • Foster positive relationships between front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) teams through effective communication.
  • Audit kitchen space for adherence to health department requirements, safety procedures, and staff hygiene.
  • Ensures adherence to safety and emergency procedures to protect staff, guests and property
  • Reports any maintenance deficiencies promptly to the appropriate personnel.
  • Resolve management requests and guest complaints satisfactorily.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and maintain a deep understanding of the culinary world.
  • Demonstrate courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with the public and staff, fostering a harmonious workplace.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager
