About The Position

At SI Engineering, P.C. (SIE), an engineering firm headquartered in Manhattan’s Financial District, the full-service team provides innovative solutions in civil, structural, electrical, and transportation engineering, as well as bridge and facility inspections, program/construction management, and construction inspection. The firm works on high-profile infrastructure projects and has a trusted reputation for excellence across New York City’s public sector. This Expeditor role supports permitting and regulatory compliance activities for construction projects, coordinating the submission, review, and processing of project documents with various New York City agencies to ensure timely permit approvals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction document processing, permitting, zoning compliance, or related work
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple filings and deadlines simultaneously
  • Detail-oriented with strong administrative and follow-through skills

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of NYC permitting processes and agency coordination preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review permit application documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with submission requirements
  • Support applicants in preparing and filing documents with New York City agencies
  • Deliver and track documents submitted to city agencies for review, approval, and data entry
  • Coordinate with plan examiners and agency representatives regarding code compliance and document requirements
  • Research property and building records across city databases and agency systems
  • Monitor permit status and assist in resolving issues that may delay approvals
  • Maintain organized records of permit submissions and agency communications
  • Perform related administrative and technical support tasks as required
