About The Position

The Exercise Physiologist is responsible for providing individualized, goal directed care and education to patients using the systematic process of assessment, implementation, and evaluation. The Exercise Physiologist will analyze the patients' fitness to help them improve or maintain good health. They will help patients with heart disease and other chronic conditions, like pulmonary disease, regain their health. This position requires proficiency in cardiac and pulmonary care to ensure the delivery of high service standards while promoting excellent patient experience.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (AACVRP-CCRP) Certified Cardiac Rehab Professional must be obtained within 2 years of employment start date
  • Bachelor of Science with an emphasis on Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, and/or Kinesiology
  • A minimum of 1-year clinical experience is required

Responsibilities

  • Punctual and complete attendance with hours of employment, work schedule, documentation, meetings, and conferences.
  • Maintains and provides documentation to Rio Grande Regional Hospital of current professional licensure and CPR certification and meets annual competency standards.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturers instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional associations.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Assists in development of clinical educational programs.
  • Develops and participates in departmental, hospital and community in-services.
  • Demonstrates accurate utilization of nursing protocols/standard care statements, policies and procedures. Completes unit specific competency list.
