Summary Works in the application of physical activity and behavioral intervention for those with clinical disease and health conditions that have been shown to provide therapeutic and/or functional benefits. Provides exercise screening, exercise and physical fitness testing, exercise and health education/promotion, measurement and evaluation of exercise, and physical activity related outcomes measures.

  • Documents necessary information in the patient's medical record including data management and quality indicators for the individualized treatment plan (ITP).
  • Monitors patients throughout exercise training sessions, including vital signs and ECG monitored exercise when appropriate.
  • Applies extensive knowledge of functional anatomy, exercise physiology, pathophysiology, electrocardiography, human behavior, gerontology, and graded exercise testing in the clinical setting.
  • Interprets and explains assessment results and develops individualized exercise prescriptions.
  • Provides exercise and health education/promotion and councils patients on lifestyle modification.
  • Participates and supports the supervision and onboarding of new employees and student interns.
  • Develops an individualized exercise plan/program for the patient for home.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Exercise Physiology
  • Ability to develop an individualized exercise prescription for cardiac, pulmonary, and vascular patients based on clinical results of assessment and/or exercise stress test.
  • Ability to evaluate the patient's responses to exercise conditioning.
  • Demonstrates strong educational teaching abilities for patient education, both individual and group.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of cardiac risk factors and lifestyle modifications.
