About The Position

The Executive Vice President (EVP), Neighbor Services & Community Programs leads the strategy, performance, and delivery of the Food Bank’s community food access and neighbor services programs across our service area. This role provides executive leadership for the Partner Agency Network, food distribution programs, neighbor services, and workforce development initiatives, ensuring neighbors have access to food today while connecting them to resources that support Food for Tomorrow and Food for a Lifetime. The EVP, Neighbor Services & Community Programs oversees a portfolio that includes both SAFB-operated programs and a broad network of community partners across the region. Working closely with senior leaders across operations and sustainability, this role ensures strong alignment between community programs, infrastructure, supply chain, and disaster response efforts, while strengthening partnerships that expand reach and community capacity. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this highly visible executive leads complex program portfolios, develops high-performing teams, and represents the Food Bank with clarity and credibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive senior leadership experience overseeing multi-program or multi-site service delivery within complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated executive leadership of community-based programs, nonprofit services, public benefit programs, or related fields.
  • Proven experience managing significant operating budgets and ensuring financial sustainability of program portfolios.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into operational execution with measurable results.
  • Experience building and sustaining cross-sector partnerships, including nonprofit, governmental, healthcare, education, or workforce stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management within federally or grant-funded programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent an organization credibly in community, civic, and cross-sector settings.
  • Experience leading and developing senior leaders and high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of the San Antonio Food Bank.
  • Possession of a current Texas driver’s license, liability insurance, and a clean driving record.
  • Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Program & Portfolio Leadership Provide executive oversight for agency relations, food distribution programs, neighbor services, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Set strategic direction, performance standards, and measurable outcomes aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Ensure programs are mission-aligned, operationally sound, and financially sustainable.
  • Identify service gaps and lead thoughtful program growth, redesign, or sunset decisions based on impact and resources.
  • Partnership & Network Leadership Lead strategy for recruitment, engagement, accountability, and support of the Partner Agency Network.
  • Strengthen cross-sector partnerships with nonprofit, healthcare, education, municipal, and workforce stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization in community coalitions, public forums, and strategic collaborations.
  • Operational & Financial Stewardship Oversee budgets and financial performance across assigned divisions, ensuring strong fiscal management and long-term program viability.
  • Establish clear accountability systems, internal controls, and performance management frameworks.
  • Utilize data and analytics to guide forecasting, resource allocation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance and audit readiness across federal, state, and other grant-funded programs.
  • Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment Serve as a strategic partner to the EVP of Supply Chain & Logistics to align program delivery with inventory, distribution infrastructure, and disaster response operations.
  • Partner with Development to align program priorities with food sourcing, funding strategy and philanthropic engagement.
  • Lead and develop senior program leaders, build strong teams, clear accountability, and a culture of performance and collaboration.
  • Provide oversight of organizational structure, succession planning, and talent development across assigned divisions.
  • Establish clear priorities, decision-making clarity, and performance expectations across program areas.
  • Contribute to organization-wide planning, annual goals, and long-term strategy.
  • Support coordinated disaster response and recovery efforts across the service area.
