About The Position

A senior living community is seeking an experienced Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD) to lead an assisted living and memory care community in the Metro, MN area. The community is undergoing leadership transition with a focus on strengthening operations, accountability, and long-term stability. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who understands Minnesota assisted living regulations, financial performance, occupancy management, and team development. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall operations of the assisted living community, including regulatory compliance (MN 144G), budget and financial oversight, staff leadership and retention, occupancy growth, resident satisfaction, and survey readiness. This position serves as the licensed leader of the community and is accountable for day-to-day performance and long-term stability. This is an opportunity to lead a community during a leadership transition. The right Executive Director will help reset expectations, strengthen operations, and build a stable, high-performing team. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, drives results, and understands what strong assisted living leadership requires.

Requirements

  • Active Minnesota Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD) license
  • Leadership experience in assisted living, memory care, or long-term care
  • Strong knowledge of Minnesota 144G regulations
  • Experience managing budgets and operational performance
  • Ability to lead teams and improve accountability

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Minnesota Assisted Living regulations (144G)
  • Maintain survey readiness at all times
  • Oversee quality assurance, documentation systems, and risk management
  • Lead state surveys and corrective action processes
  • Monitor policies and procedures for regulatory alignment
  • Manage the operating budget and monthly financial performance
  • Control labor costs and operational expenses
  • Review P&L statements and adjust strategy as needed
  • Improve financial performance through strong operational oversight
  • Hire, develop, and hold department leaders accountable
  • Build a professional, stable leadership team
  • Address performance concerns promptly and appropriately
  • Promote a culture of clear expectations and follow-through
  • Partner with sales and referral sources to support occupancy growth
  • Maintain strong relationships with hospitals and community partners
  • Oversee move-in process and retention efforts
  • Support reputation management within the local market
  • Ensure consistent delivery of quality care and services
  • Address resident and family concerns in a timely manner
  • Promote engagement programming and resident satisfaction
