UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. The Executive Board is responsible for providing intergovernmental support to, and supervision of, the operational activities of UN-Women in accordance with the overall policy guidance of the General Assembly and the Economic and Social Council, and in accordance with its respective responsibility as set out in the Charter of the United Nations, as well as for ensuring that UN Women is responsive to the needs and priorities of recipient countries. The Executive Board Secretariat (EBS), officiating from UN Women’s Executive Director’s Office, is the interface between UN-Women and Member States of the United Nations. The Secretary and the Secretariat team support the President and the four (4) Vice Presidents of the Executive Board in organizing and delivering official and informal sessions and meetings of the Executive Board.
