About The Position

The Orvis School of Nursing at the University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an experienced and detail oriented Executive Assistant to the Dean. This position provides high-level administrative, operational, and communications support. This role manages executive scheduling, oversees daily office operations, coordinates faculty affairs processes, and supports college events, projects, and strategic initiatives. The position requires professionalism, judgment, discretion, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced academic environment.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of progressively responsible administrative support experience which included overseeing administrative office activities, maintaining complex records, and coordinating administrative communication including written and oral information to various managers and work groups; OR One year of experience as an Administrative Assistant IV in Nevada State service which included administrative support duties as described above; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
  • A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Dean’s calendar, meetings, travel, and high-priority communications.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for the Dean’s Office, handling sensitive issues, inquiries, and interactions with campus partners, government offices, and external organizations.
  • Screen and triage calls, visitors, and urgent matters; resolve issues or determine appropriate escalation.
  • Support college operations, including office management, meeting coordination, and procedural documentation.
  • Assist with faculty affairs processes such as promotion, tenure, and evaluations; coordinate materials and serve as a key point of contact.
  • Coordinate college events, donor communications, and special projects.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, presentations, and other professional documents.
  • Maintain records, agreements, contracts, and compliance documentation (e.g., clinical affiliations, State Board of Nursing reports).
  • Oversee purchasing card reconciliation, space logistics, equipment management, and other administrative tasks.
