The mission of The New York Times is to seek the truth and help people understand the world. That means independent journalism is at the heart of all we do as a company. It’s why we have a world-renowned newsroom that sends journalists to report on the ground from nearly 160 countries. It’s why we focus deeply on how our readers will experience our journalism, from print to audio to a world-class digital and app destination. And it’s why our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it’s worth paying for. The Times is seeking an executive assistant to support Ezra Klein across his opinion columns, podcast, and coming newsletter. This job will be a swiss-army knife kind of role: It will include assisting Ezra with scheduling and communications and travel, as well as helping him create and run a links-focused newsletter and expand his show and column’s social media footprint. The ideal candidate will be deeply interested in the topics Ezra covers, omnivorous in their consumption of news and ideas, organized in their approach to operations and logistics, and an excellent communicator and writer. They will be excited to grow and adapt as Ezra’s needs, and those of the department, change. This role enjoys high levels of responsibility and access and confidentiality, discretion and organization are expected at all times. This is a New York City-based role and while in-office work 4 days a week is expected, that will ultimately be dependent on the schedule for any given week. AI cover letters strongly discouraged.
