Agency Mission: The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) licenses and regulates the City’s taxi, for-hire vehicle, commuter van, and paratransit industries to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality transportation service for New Yorkers and visitors. The TLC sets standards for driver and vehicle safety, enforces regulations, and supports a modern, equitable for-hire transportation network that advances public safety, service, and innovation. Agency Overview: Created in 1971, TLC is the charter-mandated regulator of yellow medallion taxis, green Boro taxis, black cars, luxury limousines, commuter vans, paratransit vehicles, and app-based for-hire services in New York City. The agency issues and oversees licenses for drivers, vehicles, and bases; enforces safety, fare, and operational standards; and works to improve service quality, accessibility, and sustainability across the industry. The Executive Assistant to the Commissioner will provide high-level administrative and operational support to the Commissioner/Chair, Chief of Staff, and Deputy Chief of Staff. This role will manage the day-to-day operations of the executive office, including complex calendar management, correspondence, and coordination of internal and external communications. The Executive Assistant will support the agency leadership in operational and process management, assist in the coordination of major initiatives, and play an active role in planning and organizing Commission Meetings and Public Hearings. Responsibilities will also include preparing reports, presentations, and official correspondence; responding to inquiries from licensees, elected officials, and the general public; and ensuring timely, accurate agency responses. The role will involve maintaining project plans and workflow trackers, ensuring meetings are well-structured with clear agendas and designated leads, and supporting staff development initiatives to enhance administrative effectiveness across the agency.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory, full-time experience related to the projects and policies to be studied in the position; or
  • A satisfactory equivalent of education and/or experience.
