About The Position

The Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development (CED) is the primary state agency responsible for encouraging job creation, retention, and new investments within the state. Kentucky has recently experienced record-breaking success with the largest investment growth on record and has been recognized nationally for its accomplishments. The Office of Legal Services (OLS) within CED is seeking an Executive Administrative Secretary to provide professional secretarial and administrative support to the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel. This fast-paced role involves a variety of duties supporting a busy legal team and offers the opportunity to contribute to the Commonwealth’s growing economy. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional secretarial and administrative support to the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel within the Office of Legal Services.
  • Assist in collection of incentive applications and materials, and draft incentive agreements and related documents assigned to Office of Legal Services. Manage background checks through coordination with other assigned staff.
  • Monitor economic development-related legislative committees and subcommittees for actions taken or considered and review materials in advance to notify and schedule meetings for General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel. Review bills introduced and passed by the General Assembly relevant to Cabinet and provide tracking functions of said bills.
  • Assist General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel in preparing required reporting, both federal and state, relative to Cabinet functions, including Federal and State reporting compliance as well as any additional annual reports required.
  • Assist General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel in regulatory management, filing any new regulations and continuing to monitor hearing schedule and other requirements for finalizing said regulations. Assist with any related revisions and coordination with the Regulations Compiler.
  • Process legal bills submitted by outside counsel promptly and track payments for services to individual law firms with CED contracts.
  • Oversee intake of Open Records Requests submitted to the Open Records email inbox. Update Open Records Request (ORR) tracking sheet for intake and response to open records requests.
