About The Position

The Exam Proctor plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity, fairness, and security of the assessment process. This position ensures that all exams are administered in accordance with institutional protocols and standards, monitors test-takers, enforces rules, and provides support to students during assessments. The proctor is responsible for creating a distraction-free environment and reporting any irregularities or misconduct. Per LCME (Liaison Committee on Medical Education) Accreditation, testing is required to be monitored in person and/or via a virtual platform(s) such as Exam Soft, Lock Down Browser, Exemplify, NBME Secure Browser and Zoom. Requirements

  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Basic technical proficiency with laptops, tablets, and exam software (e.g., ExamSoft, NBME, Zoom).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Previous Exam Proctor experience.
  • AA Degree.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and comply with all testing procedures, practices and policies.
  • Maintain a secure testing environment.
  • Monitor test-takers to ensure adherence to exam rules and institutional policies including Attendance and Absence Policy.
  • In-person exams: Prepare the testing room by arranging seating, distributing materials, ensuring equipment is functional, and collecting test material at completion of exam.
  • Virtual proctoring: Monitor the exam session via Zoom, providing support through phone or chat as needed, verifying the integrity of the testing environment, and ensuring students properly dispose of scratch paper at the completion of the exam.
  • Observe students continuously to detect rule violations; document and report any irregularities, cheating, or disruptions.
  • Check-in examinees, verify identification, and explain the exam policies.
  • Provide clear instructions and respond to student inquiries related to exam procedures.
  • Assist with technical issues or disruptions, coordinating with IT support to when necessary.
  • Resolve systematic problems or testing issues that may arise during exam sessions.
  • Administer and manage multiple exams and scheduling windows.
  • Document and report any irregularities, discrepancies, misconduct, or technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Minimal housekeeping duties such as sanitizing keyboards, shredding scratch paper, sharpening pencils, etc.
  • Assist with and provide accommodations for students with disabilities.
