About The Position

This position is an integral part of the executive leadership team at Children’s Minnesota, one of the largest pediatric health systems in the United States, dedicated exclusively to providing care for children from birth through young adulthood. As EVP and Chief Medical Officer, the incumbent will assist professional staff and hospital management in fulfilling their obligations for quality patient care. The role requires close collaboration with the professional chief of staff and other physician leaders, including division and committee chairs, to foster a strong and mutually beneficial relationship between the professional staff and hospital management. This executive is accountable for the clinical responsibilities of all medical directors, vice VPMA/CMO, and all employed physicians within the system. Children’s Minnesota operates as an independent, not-for-profit system since 1924, serving the Upper Midwest across two free-standing hospitals, nine primary care clinics, multiple specialty clinics, and seven rehabilitation sites. Requirements

  • Must be a licensed physician with clinical training
  • Possesses exceptional leadership skills, including a faculty for conceptual thinking, peer motivation, and problem-solving

  • Have prior supervisory experience
  • Champion change
  • Is knowledgeable of current pediatric literature

Responsibilities

  • Assists the professional staff and hospital management in fulfilling their obligations to each other and their responsibilities to patients for the provision of quality care
  • Works closely with the professional chief of staff and other physician leaders, including division and committee chairs
  • Fosters, facilitates, and contributes to a close and mutually beneficial relationship between the professional staff and hospital management
  • Accountable for the clinical responsibilities of all medical directors and vice VPMA/CMO
  • Accountable for the clinical responsibilities of all employed physicians
