About The Position

Equal Justice Works mobilizes the next generation of public interest leaders committed to serving communities in need. The Events & Special Projects Coordinator supports a variety of in-person and virtual events that connect, inspire, and advance the work of Equal Justice Works. From regional receptions to staff retreats to board meetings, this position helps create experiences that matter. The Coordinator also pitches in on special projects that keep the team running smoothly. This position will work across units and teams to support cross-functional projects and resources. An ideal candidate is adaptable, collaborative, and energized by logistics.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in administration, project coordination, or event planning
  • Comfort managing multiple timelines and priorities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Fluency with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams platforms
  • A team-first orientation and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Comfort with flexibility and a growth mindset – your contribution may adapt to meet the moment as you progress professionally
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 10%) for major events

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, receptions, convenings, trainings, and more
  • Manage details like venue selection, catering, RSVPs, space setup, travel, and materials
  • Collect and circulate relevant documents, including agendas, run of show, guest lists, speaker remarks, and BEOs.
  • Provide onsite or virtual support during events (occasional travel required).
  • Help maintain internal tools like contact lists and resource libraries
  • Assist with scheduling, data entry, and documentation for key initiatives
  • Take on short-term projects to meet emerging needs across the organization
  • Collaborate with staff across multiple departments to ensure event success
  • Stay flexible as needs shift, and step in where your support makes a difference
  • Keep communication clear, timely, and positive
