Overview and Responsibilities: Weâre looking for a sharp, detail-obsessed Events Manager to help us design and deliver unforgettable experiences for our subscribers. Reporting to the Head of Community & Events, youâll be the operational backbone of our live programmingâowning logistics, systems, vendor relationships, and post-event reporting. This is a fast moving, mission-driven role. The right candidate is resourceful, thrives in startup culture, and believes ideas deserve a stage. Requirements

5+ years of event or project management experience (media, culture, or nonprofit preferred)
Willingness to travel (10â20%)
Availability for evening and weekend work during events.
Demonstrated ability to run events end-to-end, from intimate salons to 1,000+ person gatherings

Nice To Haves

Skilled in project management tools (Asana, Airtable, or similar)
Comfortable with ticketing platforms and CRM systems
Strong negotiation skills and vendor management experience
Financial literacy: ability to manage budgets and weigh trade-o

Responsibilities

Plan and execute events from start to finish, from venue and A/V to travel, seating, and run-of-show
Build and maintain solid vendor and venue relationships so The Free Press has a reliable bench for the future
Design thoughtful experiences for VIPs and sponsorsâperks, signage, custom touchesâwhile ensuring the event shines for every guest
Keep contact lists, vendor info, and event records organized and up to date in our CRM
Manage budgets, track expenses, and negotiate contracts
Produce post-event recap decks with photos, data, and lessons learned to improve programming and support sponsorships
Make real-time decisions on-site when plans change, keeping events running smoothly
Collaborate closely with editorial, partnerships, and marketing teams to ensure alignment and impact
