The University of Notre Dame Operations, Events, and Safety (UOES) division is currently hiring for temporary/on-call Event Captains in our campus Events department. The UOES Division oversees the University's event management, hospitality, and customer service functions, while also supporting student life, academic initiatives, research activities, and annual milestone celebrations. Requirements

  • Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently
  • Ability to problem solve and rectify a situation quickly
  • Positive attitude and respectful demeanor
  • Strong communication and time-management skills
  • Must commit to working a minimum of 8-10 hours per week and 2 weekend shifts per month
  • Must have timely response to email/calendar requests
  • Full commitment to events assigned (no call-offs within 1 week of scheduled event)
  • Class/exam/vacation time must be approved and blocked within 3 weeks

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the set up, execution, and tear down of events taking place within the stadium and any additional event locations on campus including, but not limited to; Club Naimoli, Compton Family Ice Arena, Joyce Center, etc
  • Ensure room set up is done correctly prior to vendors arriving for event set up and assist facilities in pre event set up if needed
  • Touch base with the client prior to the event start time to ensure all customer expectations are met
  • Ensure all vendors arrive at their expected time and confirm that set up has been completed, according to the agreed upon timeline
  • Troubleshoot A/V during an event (when needed) and provide assistance with any repairs needed
  • Collaborate with event planners and relevant University departments (e.g., Facilities, Security, Catering) to ensure seamless coordination and support
  • Deliver the highest level of customer service for event clients, campus partners and university vendors to maintain a positive and professional working relationship
  • Spend some time in the office prior to events to review upcoming assigned events, and work through any questions directly with the Event Specialist who planned the event
  • Thoroughly and thoughtfully complete the post event captain’s report and the post event kitchen cleaning checklist
