About The Position

This position must have a good sense of safety, fun, and a desire to delight passengers, as well as excellent driving skills as they drive a trolley or shuttle on busy public streets at night, multiple times a work shift. The work shift can include providing hotel and cruise ship shuttle service, and driving both charters, and the Ghost and Gravestones Trolley. The person in this position must make our guests feel welcomed and glad they have chosen our company to entertain them.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must have a Massachusetts Class B Commercial Driving License with Passenger and Airbrake Endorsements.
  • Must have an acceptable and verifiable driving record
  • Must pass a drug test and background search
  • Valid DOT physical required.
  • Have a passion for entertaining people and making their Boston experience a memorable one.

Responsibilities

  • Drive in a safe, competent manner a shuttle or non-air-conditioned trolley that is approximately 26 feet to 42 feet on busy public streets at night.
  • Assignments can range from shuttling guests from the hotels or cruise ships to our ticket locations and back, moving our staff from the trolley barn to various locations in the city and back, driving the evening tour trolleys, or driving charters. There can be any combination of assignments during a work shift.
  • When assigned a charter, you are responsible for preparing yourself for the charter. Learning the route and locations/destinations in advanced. Getting lost or not knowing where you are going is not acceptable. Check charter form or check with the charter rep or the operations team for items that the client has requested and load onto the vehicle, this could include but not limited to, sodas, bottled water, and ice into coolers.
  • Meet and deal with the general public and diverse team members in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Handle stressful situations and difficult people both in person and via a company radio while maintaining a professional and pleasant composure.
  • Ability to work independently over long periods of time within the scope of established rules and regulations while performing tours and satisfy the needs of our guests
  • Ability to deal with unpleasant, angry, or discourteous people in a calm and pleasant manner
  • Mental attitude required to handle the stress that goes with this job as described.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak clear English to communicate with coworkers, general public, law enforcement, and emergency personnel and to complete required paperwork correctly.
  • Ability to learn new duties, policies, and procedures and adjust to new situations encountered on the job within a reasonable amount of time.
